For me, travel means discovering places and meeting people. I cover a broad range of subjects, family holidays, soft adventure, creative holidays such as painting or cookery, city breaks, mountains, beaches, history, craft and true life stories. I have explored many, though not all, corners of the world, met lepers in Vietnam and Tibetans in Kathmandu, travelled to Tibet on the world's highest railway and attended the coronation of the king of Bhutan. My favourite destination is the Himalaya but South Asia, Southern Europe, Africa, France and the UK are always on the list.
I have published over 400 features in print. Recent credits include National Geographic Traveler, Real Travel, Holiday Villas and Cottages magazines, BBC History magazine, Living France, French Property News, South China Morning Post and Druk Air in-flight magazine (Bhutan Airlines). I take my own photographs and I am always thrilled when one appears on a front cover.
I recently updated online guides to Bhutan and Nepal and contributed to Paris, Memories of Time Past (Worth Press) and National Geographic Journeys of a Lifetime, Sacred Places and Food Journeys.
I gained a number of awards over the years, most recently St Lucia's Travel Writer of the Year, tutor writing workshops and judge competitions. I belong to the British Guild of Travel Writers, Travel Writers UK and the International Alliance of Travel Writers.
A keen interest in personal development helped me find new directions in my life. I enjoy sharing what I have learned and writing about it keeps me motivated every day.
